Step 1: You need to download an emulator, which basically copies the software of what ever you want emulating and applies is through your current software i.e. Playstation - Laptop.

Step 2: Okay, so you have your emulator, now all you need to do is put your game disc in and click on run.

Step 3: Now all you need is something to play it with. This is where you need a USB Playstation controller adaptor, which enables you to use your existing playstation pad.

The Console War - Xbox V PS3 Sales figures

Xbox 2008 - 28 million console's sold
PS3 2008 - 20 million console's sold

However there was controversy in 2009 over figures, with the PS3 claiming to have been ahead by 1.5 million console's . In august 2009 xbox 360 has sold over 9 million, while the PS3 had sold 10 million. (figures according to GamesThirst)

Before either of these console's were launched, console wars were on going right back in the late 70's.

What Facebook is for

This is a rather humorous animation, which somes up facebook and how its used today.

3d tv

Now I am not a big fan of 3D and have said its not really that impressive, but the new samsung 3D tv looks pretty darn impressive! However, after some research I found out that the tv need glasses, as with every other 3D product, which don't even come included. To add even bigger insult, you need as 3D Blu-ray player to play the films on!

Sony's internet ready tv

This is Sony's new range of internet ready televisions. This is looking to set the bar up for technology, as phones did with cameras, video and internet did. I mean the internet has succeeded in bringing us streamed tv, but why not just have a tv with internet built in, well now we do.

some books for referance

This is one of the book I will use for ym referancing in my essay. Giving a basic look at the features of yotube and how it works, which will be key to explain why it is important to me. The book uses the standard format for a dummies guide, reading it told me stuff even I didnt know about youtube.

My Laptop

This was my first laptop, which was a COMPAQ Presario CQ50. It was rather basic in terms of a laptop and it did what I needed it to do. Wireless internet was a really handy feature on it and is common in most laptops today but at the time, having the freedom to go anywhere in your house to be online was almost magic.

Finally after 2 years I upgraded to the new CQ61, which included a swanky new build it webcam and mic!, which came in very handy for skype calls to my mates at other universities. In terms of design it wasn't much different, other than the smooth vinyl casing and the silver front bit.

Essay Plan

I plan on starting  my essay this week and here is a quick plan of things.

Introduction:

Choosing 5 pieces of technology that are vitally important to me was rather demanding at first, because there are some many things I use today, which I take for granted. I really had to think about my 5 objects and the ones I finally decided on are key to my everyday life. While researching my objects, I noticed they each focus upon a popular area in today's world, which is why I feel they support me for every aspect of my life.....

My first choice has to be my laptop without doubt, it has been my most important piece of technology, or any item for that matter, for the past two years. I was rather late to the whole laptop scene, receiving my first on my 18th birthday. Before hand I used the home PC but now that I had my own laptop, I had so much more freedom  and privacy to. The following year my laptop became extremely useful and had a major part to play in choosing animation as a career path.....

Before my laptop, my ipod was my biggest and most favourite item, I literally took it everywhere with me when I first bought it, even to toilet! and nine times out of ten used it when I go out. At the time, being able to have your whole music collection on one device was mind blowing and is something we all take for granted in today's world....

I was tempted to put this choice first, seeing as I don't know how we would communicate without it but Facebook is such a common part of my daily routine that don't know how long its been since I haven't gone a day without it.  Setting my account up in 2008, I have slowly become addicted to this social networking site, along with millions of other users...

Certainly not my first gaming console and probably not my last either, my xbox 360 is my last choice of the 5. This is the most recent piece of technology I have required, only having it since Christmas. In terms of other consoles I have had, the xbox 360 has a unique online gaming experience different to that of the PS3. The online system is run by microsoft, who have vast experience with the internet and know what the gamers want, which is speed and the ability to stay in contact with your friends...

2 weeks to go!!!!!!!!!!!

Right! there are 2 weeks to go before everything is handed in and so far my 5 objects have come in handy. My ipod is constantly on the go, keeping my motivated! and because I have my whole music collection on there, I can leave it on shuffle and never get bored. Youtube is practically fuelling one of my final projects, giving me my james bond footage, which I can then edit. Facebook is probably being a massive thorn in my side at the moment, constantly distracting me, but it stops me going mad and losing all contact with the outside world. My laptop is the key to most of it though, as I have all my programs and vital information at my finger tips. If I didnt have my laptop on me, I wouldn't be able to do most of my work from home and would definitely set me back. My xbox however is not being touched until all this work is finished, so for now I think I will leave that out.

Peace Out

p.s. here are some youtube clips, which are rather cool but at the same time helpful!

Myspace and Bebo

Although I chose facebook as one of my choices, there are other social networking sites which people use, such as Myspace. Myspace is similar to facebook in many ways and was at one point top of the social networking websites. Myspace was a lot more customizable then facebook, from being able to chose your own music, to background. Everyone had a friend called Tom, who was a starter friend, he even made an appearance in the simpsons!

Bebo was another social networking site, which was
more along the lines of myspace than facebook. Bebo used the same set out as myspace but has an interesting feature, which is used in facebook today, called "The Wall".

The Social Network

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1285016/

This is the social network film, which is soon to be released in cinemas. The film depicts the making of the social networking sit "Facebook" and how its was formed. I thought this was rather interesting, as facebook is one of my choices.

3-D Laptop

This is ACERS 3-D laptop

knightmare

Knightmare was one of the first children games to employ tactics and interactivity. Kids worked as teams to complete challanges, which were both fun and useful. Todays games for the xbox, such as call of duty, employ similar tactics and people have to work together to win.

week 10

This weeks lecture was split into two, the first being based around the history of interactivity and the second on mainstream animation. The first half gave me some useful background information on computer. I found it really interesting that apple were the first company to sell an all in one computer, which had a simple user interface. The first mouse was wooden and before it no technology was used to simply point and lick, instead we typed in commands vier a computer.

iPad?

Since choosing my laptop, I did some research into newer technology, which is set to proceed it. Here is a mock image of Apple's iPad, which is a high powered touch tablet, which has all the features of the macbook. Personally, I feel, along with many others, that this isn't the way forward and Apple have just brought out a piece of technology which isn't needed. As with Project Natal, the consumer likes something to touch, press and hold and getting rid of the keyboard contradicts this. Okay, it may look sleek and handy but for practicality, which most of us would prefer any day of the week, whatever we may think, it is not the easiest thing to use. A laptop is stable and you can use it almost anywhere. No, you can't use it while on a bus and no its not easy while sitting on a crowded train, but to be honest we wouldn't need to, which is all the ipad can provide.

easter break

Easter break gave me a chance to see how important my 5 object were. I noticed through out the week that my object all have a key link, which is they enable me to have everything I want on demand. And in this day and age, on demand is well...becoming more of a demand! For instance, my ipod allows me to listen to all my albums  when I want to. I also took into consideration that some of my choices need other technologies in order to work, such as facebook, sky plus and youtube, which is why I have decided to replace sky plus with my laptop as one of my 5 because without it I couldn't use facebook or youtube.

flatpack festival

To be honest I was rather disappointed with the flat pack festival, as I didn't see any animation, which was what I thought the festival was about. However, we did see some rather interesting things, such as a man who could write on paper without using a pen or any other writing tool. We each had a suggestion as too how he achieved it and came pretty close. My suggestion was he had some sort of device going up his sleeve, down to his finger and used heat sensitive paper.
